Flash Egress: Video Specifications
Last Updated October 2024
The following Specifications relate to the standards and requirements for videos. These are not exhaustive but should be used as a guide. The Flash Reviewed Egress Data (FRED) requires a high standard of video for processing. The following provides tips for achieving a good quality video for processing.
An area of interest is the portion of the video presented where you will want to understand movement characteristics of your subject facility. The area of interest is indicated in green on the below image.
Videos should be from an “elevated head on” perspective to see the maximum area of interest. An example of this view is in the image below.
The camera shall be still throughout the video.
Individual occupants are not tagged as counted by the Service; thus, the same occupant may be counted more than once.
Not all occupants on a video Input will be counted. Count is based on the video quality, angle, and number of occupants visible within the “Area of Interest”.
Video definition of 720P or higher is preferred without compression. MOV and MP4 are preferred file extensions.
Frame rates of 30 or 60 fps are preferred. Less than 15 fps will result in lower accuracy related to velocity estimates.
Details of Input not visible with unaided human vision will not be detected.
Measurements must be at floor level within the video and must be verified by Customer prior to video upload. These dimensions should include multiple polygons that can be identified during the intake call with Flash Egress staff.
All use of the Services is subject to the Terms identified at www.flashegress.com
